Commander One - File manager for Mac OS X
Review by on
The Finder application in Mac OS X leaves much to be desired in terms of comfort and convenience. Fortunately, you can find all sorts of third party applications to address this issue. A good example is Commander One. It is a dual-panel file manager, with many useful features. It makes it much easier to copy or move files around, view their properties and perform other management-related tasks.

You can explore the contents of your Mac on two identical file browsers, which are placed side by side. Files can be moved from one place to another by clicking and dragging them. Other actions can be performed with the F key, while your files are selected. For example, you can view the contents of a selected file, edit it, create folders, deleted existing items and more.

Besides local data, the two panels can also display your local network places and your Mac's running processes. You can switch to one of these view modes on any panel, by selecting the corresponding tabs. Furthermore, you can reveal hidden files with a single click.

Files and folders can be archived on the fly, just by selecting them and clicking a button. It is also possible to bring up an information panel about selected files, preview them, and search for specific files in the currently accessed folder. Just like most other operations, you can perform these actions with only a few clicks.

Even with the modern and sleek design of Mac OS X, you can still make your file browsing experience more comfortable and convenient.

Pros:
Commander One provides you with comfortable controls. It lets you switch between local and network views and it can also display running processes. The application is lightweight and you can have it up and running in no time.

Cons:
There are no obvious issues to address.
